Project Overview
LotVision is a cutting-edge IoT solution designed to revolutionize vehicle inventory management for dealerships and logistics companies. The platform provides real-time vehicle tracking, helping businesses locate vehicles quickly and streamline their operations. The solution integrates GPS-enabled hardware with a centralized digital platform, offering seamless user experiences for administrators, technicians, and field teams.
Challenges
The primary challenges were:
- Redesigning an intuitive interface to manage large-scale vehicle inventories.
- Ensuring seamless integration of IoT hardware with real-time vehicle location data.
- Simplifying workflows for diverse user groups, including administrators, lot technicians, and drivers.
Process
The design process followed a user-centered approach:
- Conducted in-depth research and workshops to understand workflows, pain points, and feature needs of various user groups.
- Created interactive prototypes in Figma to test key functionalities and gather feedback.
- Integrated real-time user behavior data via Pendo and UserTesting to refine the interface.
Key user groups:
- Administrators: Oversaw inventory, tracked vehicle assignments, and managed alerts.
- Technicians: Located vehicles on the lot using GPS data and managed maintenance tasks.
- Drivers: Used mobile-friendly tools to streamline vehicle pickup and delivery.
Results
The final product included the following features:
- Interactive Map: Provides real-time vehicle locations with search and filter options.
- Alerts Dashboard: Highlights critical updates like battery health, overdue maintenance, or missing vehicles.
- Vehicle Profiles: Displays detailed information, including location history, make, model, and status.
- Mobile Optimization: Ensures on-the-go access for field teams.
- Automated Reports: Delivers insights on lot operations, vehicle utilization, and maintenance schedules.
Impact
LotVision enhanced vehicle inventory visibility, reduced search times, and improved operational efficiency. Simplifying workflows and providing actionable insights empowered users to make smarter, faster decisions, driving measurable improvements for dealership and logistics operations.
